EDUCATION


Parker Layrisson graduated with honors from Ponchatoula High School, Tulane University, and LSU Law Center. He also attended the National College for DUI Defense summer session at Harvard Law School and completed a program in criminal justice at American University. At LSU Law, Mr. Layrisson ranked No. 1 in his class, served as editor-in-chief of the Louisiana Law Review, and achieved membership in the Order of the Coif (top 10% graduate). He also won awards for obtaining the highest grades in Criminal Law, Federal Civil Procedure (courses I & II), Obligations, and Jurisprudence. Finally, he authored a published law review article.

EXPERIENCE

Prior to law school, Parker Layrisson served on the congressional staff of former U.S. Representative Bob Livingston in Washington, D.C. During law school, Mr. Layrisson worked as research assistant to LSU Law professor/author Frank L. Maraist in Baton Rouge. Thereafter, he was appointed law clerk to the late chief judge of the United States Court of Appeals (5th Circuit) in Shreveport before serving as law clerk to a United States District Court (EDLA) judge in New Orleans. Mr. Layrisson also served the Louisiana Department of Justice as its youngest assistant attorney general and, later, as special counsel to the Attorney General. He subsequently served the City of Ponchatoula as city prosecutor. Most recently, he served Port Manchac as commissioner and secretary.


Former Louisiana Attorney General Richard P. Ieyoub publicly described Mr. Layrisson as "a first-rate young man and an emerging legal talent… [who] possesses an exceptionally bright legal mind and a wealth of wisdom and common sense."

Parker Layrisson  entered private practice with a small downtown New Orleans firm before founding his own law firm in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.

He is also a member of the LSU Law Chancellor's Council, Leader's Impacting Tomorrow's Tangipahoa, the National College for DUI Defense, and the Florida Parishes Chapter of the American Inns of Court.  He is co-founder and president of the 21st Judicial District Young Lawyers Association. Finally, he is a member of the Ponchatoula Rotary Club and a board member of the Southeast Spouse Abuse Program.

PERSONAL

Parker Layrisson resides in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He is the son of retired Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff J. Edward Layrisson and Celeste LeBlanc Layrisson. He is the brother of Ponchatoula Chief of Police Bry Layrisson and attorney Louis Edward Layrisson, III.

In addition to practicing law, Mr. Layrisson authors a newspaper column entitled "Ask an Attorney" published in The Ponchatoula Times, www.actionnews17.com, The Amite-Tangi Digest, The Kentwood News Ledger, and the St. Helena Echo. He also volunteers coaching youth basketball and baseball and chairing the Friends of Scouting annual fundraising drive. He enjoys reading, tennis, golf, white water rafting, and fishing. He is a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
